Willie O'Donoghue saved the best till last in Newmarket last Sunday 17th. The Newmarket 5k was very well supported by over 300 runners with Willie and Ger Hanley there too take part in this popular road race. Many runners would be winding down for the year at this time but instead Willie O'Donoghue was pushing himself harder, he put in an immense effort to record an excellent new PB of 17.52. He was first in his category also. Ger Hanley stormed around the course to nab a 5k PB for himself also, he crossed the line in a very respectable 19.16. Ger is new to running and the Mooreabbey Milers club this year and he has made great strides so far and will continue to improve next year no doubt. Congratulations to both on their results.

The sad loss of our dear friend and club mate, Michael Curley Cunningham was spoken of and a slideshow of memorable photos of Curley was enjoyed by all. Secretary, Tricha Blackburn presented our coaches with gifts which show our appreciation of the work and time they put into training the juveniles and adults. Afterwards a hearty meal was enjoyed by all and The Two Johnnies provided the entertainment into the small hours of the morning.
