Dundrum A.C. - club news and photos

The Grant Thornton Corporate Team Challenge 5k was held on Wednesday the 13th of June in Cork City. This is a race where companies compete as teams. We had two club athletes run on behalf of their companies. Gareth McGlinchey had a superb race to claim 1st place on the podium in 16:47. Dymphna Ryan also had a fantastic race to place 36th overall and 2nd Lady in 19:38.

The Bilboa 10k was held on Friday the 15th of June in Cappamore, Co Limerick and hosted by Bilboa A.C. This race is a part of the Ballyhoura Active Series. We had three club members compete. Tony Delaney was first home for the club in 17th place in 41:04, he was 1st O50. Bríd Quirke had a great race to place 37th in 46:24 and finished on the podium as 1st Lady. Well done to Brid her first time to win a race and she's only running a year and a half. Patricia Moloney ran well in 75th place in 55:20.

The Michael Cahill 5k was held on Friday the 15th in Ballingarry and hosted by Coolquill AC. We had 12 athletes compete over this out and back course. Dermot Hayes ran very well to place 4th overall and 1st O50 in 16:26. Next we had 10th Eamon Morrissey 17:44, 14th Martin Keane 18:27, 17th Donal Keane 18:46, 29th Linda Grogan 19:31 and was 4th Lady. On her heels was Junior athlete Stephen McDonald in 30th in a fantastic new PB of 19:31.  He took roughly a min and a half off of his previous and has been running very well lately. Next we had club secretary and Stephen's uncle 32nd Michael Moore 19:45 who was 2nd O55. Chairman John Moore came out from behind the PA and took to the road for the 2nd time this year placing 43rd in a great time of 20:49. Nice to see John in the singlet on the road again. Next we had 47th Noel Casey 21:22, 53rd Ausra Mackeviciute 21:46, 100th Colette Alley 30:11 and 103rd Orela Blake 31:45.

The Mile Marker 10 Mile was held on Sunday the 17th of June in Danesfort, Co Kilkenny. We three club athletes compete in humid, sticky conditions.  Linda Grogan had a fantastic race that really proved she is back on form including long distance. She placed 22nd overall and was 1st Lady in 1:08:05. Next we had 66th Ausra Mackeviciute 1:17:28 and 96th Christina Fryday 1:21:59. Linda and Ausra had both ran the 5k in Ballingarry 2 days previous so this was very good running with little recovery time.
