Outdoor Revolution, the brainchild of former All-Ireland winning Tipperary hurler John O’Brien, takes place in the RDS, Dublin, this Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th March. Featuring some of Ireland’s best-known athletes and health and wellness experts, Outdoor Revolution is Ireland’s biggest sports, fitness, adventure and wellness event that aims to get people active and healthy by embracing the outdoors and all that Ireland’s great outdoors have to offer.
All-Ireland winning Tipperary hurler Noel McGrath, former Munster rugby player Alan Quinlan and former Tipperary hurler Seamus Hennessy are taking on the Antarctic Ice Marathon in December and are just some of the sports stars participating in the event. They join a line-up including bestselling cookbook author Rozanna Purcell from Clonmel, former Ireland international footballer Stephen Hunt from Rathgormack, former professional cyclist Seán Kelly from Carrick-on-Suir, Leinster coach Stuart Lancaster and TV analyst Joe Brolly plus many more.
The two-day event will be taking over the RDS from 10am this Saturday until Sunday evening and will incorporate talks, panel discussions, fitness classes, demonstrations and workshops. Panel discussions will focus on topics including healthy supplement use; expert advice on all levels of running, cycling, swimming and adventure sports; coaching and mindset; the benefits of outdoor exercise; and mental health. Interactive activities will include yoga and pilates classes, cooking demonstrations, wellness workshops for kids, free health screenings, and opportunities to try out the latest innovations in sports equipment and technology.
“We’re proud to say that Outdoor Revolution has something for everyone – whether you’re a GAA supporter, an amateur athlete or interested in finding healthier ways to feed your family, we’ve got the speaker for you. We’re passionate about the benefits of outdoor activities for both physical and mental health, and so 10 percent of all of our ticket sales will be going to Pieta House,” John O’Brien says.
Outdoor Revolution was founded by John O’Brien and sports physiotherapist Tomás O’Connell. As well as encouraging beginners to take up outdoor sports, they want to discuss and highlight the opportunities out there for amateur and professional athletes facing retirement.
“For attendees who have left their field sports days behind them but want to stay fit, we’ll have nutrition and physiotherapy experts on hand throughout Outdoor Revolution to advise attendees on what sports would help them to maintain their fitness and health and protect them from injuries,” he adds.
Tickets are on sale from €20 online and on the door. Further information can be found here.
