Tipperary people up in arms over where Irish Independent claim Pat Shortt is from

Tipperary people were quick to vent at the Irish Independent on Wednesday evening after the paper claimed comedian Pat Shortt was from an entirely different county.

In a post directing to an article about the Thurles man's interview with the paper in which he discussed his earliest memories, the Indo claimed: "Pat Shortt is an actor and comedian from Co Limerick. He is known for starring in The Guard, Killinaskully and The Banshees of Inisherin."

They later claimed he only "lives in Thurles, Co Tipperary with his family." He actually lives in Limerick but is of course a Tipperary man.

One person blasted: "Irish independent, get your facts correct. Pat Shortt is from Thurles, Co Tipperary, and now living in Limerick. Very shoddy journalism."

One commenter was amused by the outrage, adding: "It's so funny to see the indignation in the comments because the article says he's from Limerick and not Thurles. Such Irishness."

It's a serious matter being misidentified as a Limerick man, especially for a proud Tipp man and hurling fan. Pat has often been pictured in the Tipperary colours, even heralding the death of Kilkenny hurling after Tipperary won the 2014 All-Ireland final.
