Once a year the Parent Association of St John the Baptist girls school hold a major fundraising event and this years’ event will be held on April 21.
A concert will take place in Bru Boru and will feature barritone Derek Ryan from Clonoulty, soprani Kathy Keane from Thurles nad Deirdre Ryan from Tipperary. WIth them will be the St John the Baptist school choir, THomas Grogan and Megan Perdue.
In 2011 the Parent Association provided funding for payment towards transport costs for games, payment towards literacy games and purchase of visualisers from Stakelums.
Tickets for this year’s show cost E20 and went on sale on Friday, March 23. They are available from O’Dwyer’s Pharmacy, Tesco Shopping Centre and the School Office.
At this point, the parent’s association have plans to support the school by providing funding for the following: Rostrum for the School Choir, Sports Equipment, Table Quiz for Children, Transport to Events and the Purchase of IT Equipment.
Due to the present economic climate and the recent budget cutbacks in education the Association has to fundraise more and to this end, we hope that as many people as possible will support our fundraising event. A great night’s entertainment is promised in the historical surroundings of Bru Boru so please come along and support your local school.
