His many friends in South Tipperary were saddened to hear of the death of former newspaper editor Gerry Slevin.
Mr Slevin was editor of the Nenagh Guardian from 1989 to 2005 and was highly regarded in journalistic circles.
He was an avid follower of Tipperary GAA and wrote a book on the exploits of the All-conquering Tipperary camogie team of the early years of the last decade.
He was also highly regarded in musical circles for his involvement with Nenagh Musical Society and AIMS.
