Hundreds of children and adults flocked to Carrick-on-Suir’s Strand Theatre last week to enjoy a few hours of old fashioned entertainment at the Halloween panto, Cinderella.
Carrick Musical Society’s annual panto, which ended its eight day run on Sunday, was just the tonic for those wishing to escape the bad weather and gloomy recession. The show’s director Padraig Sheehan said it was great to see such a young cast performing in the show. Many of the new panto stars started learning to dance and sing at the Musical Society’s Academy of Performing Arts a few years ago. The Academy also had many of its young members in the show.
The Society is now turning its attention to its next projects. Society members will be assisting Comeragh College with a school show in December.
And over the next few weeks, the cast will be chosen for the Society’s next big show “Evita” and rehearsals will also begin. The hit musical will be staged at the Strand Theatre next March.
