One of Ireland’s top stars, Jimmy Buckley, a native of Doon, Co. Limerick was in top form when he appeared along with Robert Mizzell and Patrick Feeney on the ‘Miriam Meets’ show on RTE last weekend.
Buckley got his first big break on the television show Secrets 1n 1991, which was hosted by one of Ireland’s top celebrities, the late Gerry Ryan.
He has never looked back since and original material written by his former manager Henry McMahon played a big part in Jimmy’s success. ‘Your Wedding Day’ went on to become the biggest selling Irish single of 2003, followed by the album of the same name. McMahon also wrote ‘Broken White Lines’, the title track of Jimmy’s 2005 album.
Buckley notes Elvis and Buddy Holly among his greatest and earliest influences. His current single ‘Say Me Marie’ is again proving to be a big hit on the local radio station network while Jimmy also appeared along with Jimmy Buckley is sure to be a major attraction at The Times Hotel, Tipperary town on this coming Sunday night, July 22.
