The Tipperary Singers continue their annual Christmas concert on Sunday December 9, at Aherlow House Hotel. The theme of this year’s concert is, ‘A Christmas Celebration of Tipperary beneath The Star of Hope.’
“The concert will be full of music and song, laughter, poetry and dance to stir the most anxious hearts and as we celebrate all the great achievements in our communities in Tipperary over the last year,” said Betty Lynch, Musical Director of the Tipperary Singers. “We will all leave the concert with a new hope to face the year ahead.”
Emma English, Derek Ryan, Carol Donovan, Fran Curry, Billy Clifford, Tommy Kennedy, Roy Galvin, Frank Spillane, Jim Keane and many others, will surprise and delight with their special talents and of course all brought together by Master of Ceremonies, Billy Kingston.
“Each artist has chosen pieces to fit the theme, thus weaving a tapestry that will move and delight all hearts. We are joined by old friends and new to make this a very special evening,” added Betty. “There is so much worry and anxiety in society as the recession digs deeper and money is scarce. Many are fearful as to how they will manage, now that winter is upon us. With Christmas approaching it in its own way, can add to the stress factor and that is the very reason we, in the choir choose the theme of celebration beneath The Star of Hope. We must never forget that here in Tipperary, the great Canon John Hayes founded the great organisation of Muintir na Tire, based on the premise of ‘neighbour help neighbour and together as a community we will succeed as ‘we are a people of hope.”
Tickets for the concert are €15 and available from all choir members, Kingston’s Shoes, Danny Ryan’s Music Shop and at the door on the night. ‘Meals on Wheels’ are the beneficiary of this year’s concert. The Tipperary Singers wish all the supporters over the last 40 years a very happy Christmas.
