Last Sunday evening the society held its annual patrons evening.

Usually a special night for supporters of the society, this year was just a little bit more special, as everyone celebrated the milestones.

There were tributes the original founders of the society, all those 70 years ago, and among the gathering was the only surviving member of the cast of that first show - Tom Power appeared on stage in the first production HMS Pinafore.

Before the gathering adjourned to enjoy the show local poet and writer Michael Coady regaled everyone with a poem of his own on the subject of the theatre.
