A Carrickbeg priest who was a founder member of cultural organisation Conradh na Gaeilge is to be remembered in his home town.
Conradh na Gaeilge was founded on July 31, 1893 and one of the founder members was Fr. William Hayden S.J. a native of Carrickbeg.
The organisation has now had a branch in Carrick on Suir for more than 100 years.
To commemorate both historic occasions, Craobh O hIci is inviting the people of Carrick on Suir to join with the members at the celebration of a special Mass for members both living and dead in St. Nicholas Church on Wednesday, July 31, at 7.30pm.
Following the Mass, a plaque to Fr. William Hayden will be unveiled at Carrick Beg House and all are welcome to an oiche ceol, caint agus cupan tae in Brewery Lane Theatre afterwards.
