A ‘radio postcard’ of a vibrant community was broadcast to all of Ireland, last Wednesday morning, when Ryan Tubridy’s popular morning show went out live on 2FM from the ballroom of the Clonmel Park Hotel.
Invited to the town by a local student the Tubridy show crew moved their studio to the town for the day and through interviews and music portrayed some of the best features of life in the South Tipp town.
Among those interviewed live on the show were representatives of local business and political life, including Mayor Darren Ryan, and some of the Army Wives who spoke about their sadness at the closing of Kickham Barracks.
The audience were also treated to live performances from local band The Pearly Whites and one of the highlights of the morning was a performance from chart toppers Royseven, whose lead singer Paul Walsh is from Clonmel.
A full report on the morning, accompanied by our photographs of the day, will be in The Nationalist next Wednesday!
