Tipperary artist on TG4 special

Kilmoyler native Alice Maher is one of the best known names in Irish art, and her current show Becoming, a retrospective looking back on more than 20 years of her work, is gaining acclaim across the country.

Kilmoyler native Alice Maher is one of the best known names in Irish art, and her current show Becoming, a retrospective looking back on more than 20 years of her work, is gaining acclaim across the country.

Maher’s work features on this week’s episode of Imeall TG4’s flagship arts programme.

In this week’s Imeall Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh takes a look at the show and also spends some time with the Tipperary artist.

Maher says of the show ‘...the word is quite frightening, retrospective, because it makes you think backwards...I’m trying to use it as a forward looking show where we assess all of the work...join the dots and then decide where it will go from here...’ The retrospective runs until February in the National Concert Hall Wing of IMMA, giving everyone ample time to get up and see what Ireland’s most innovative artist has in store.
