They made the Cashel Christmas DVD at the Rock, now photographers Sean Laffey and Dennis Vahey are cooking up a Flash Mob event for the Gathering and they need singers, musicians and folks with Canon cameras to come along to the plaza this Saturday afternoon.
The exciting event was explained to The Nationalist by one of the bright sparks who came up with the idea.
“The idea is to do a special Gathering flash mob song on Saturday, March 16, on the Plaza and to have it filmed using as many HD video Canon cameras as possible,” says Dennis.
He added more detail: “the filming will take about 10 minutes of your time, so it won’t burn a hole in your SD card!”
And why Canon cameras? This make is Dennis’ weapon of choice, so it will make the subsequent video easier to edit, he explains. If you have an HD video capable Canon that’s what is needed.
Sean told The Nationalist that the Tipperary Gospel singers are on board with the flash mob to add their voices, and he said “we could do with loads more, a couple of hundred people would be ideal.
“We have a simple song for you to sing, it’s called ‘I’m on My Way,’ you only need to learn one verse and one chorus and we’ll have song a sheets available on the day.
“We’d love loads of musicians to come on board too. We’ll meet up at noon on the plaza and teach it to the crowd and then film it at 1pm.
“If you can play in the key of D and know a few chords you’ll be grand. We will have a rehearsal this week (text 0879821916 to arrange a time) but in the meantime if anyone would like the words, chords or a link to the song, just text me with the Song Words to 0879821916 and we’ll make sure you get a link,” Sean said.
“There will be a chance to get to grips with the song at a session in Foley’s on Thursday night and there might even be some special guests turning up to give it a run through,” Sean added.
