A popular Clonmel street theatre company has decided to call it a day.

Since its launch over two years ago Shellikybookie has proved a welcome addition to many events in Clonmel. Artistic director Anthony Lawless says it was a tough decision but the time commitments proved too much to overcome.

“Due to a huge personal cost, both mentally and physically over the last two years, which can no longer be sustained and after much soul searching, Shellikybookie will close after Festival Chluain Meala on August 11. It has been a tough yet magical ride, which hopefully brought some spectacle to the streets and some cheer to your lives. Massive thanks to all the volunteers over the last 2 years, especially the stalwarts who don’t want to get off the ride.

We will thank everybody else over the next few weeks”.
