The chamber officers recently met with Tipperary Racecourse manger, Nessa Joyce, in relation to the upcoming Tipperary Town Business Race Day where a very positive discussion took place. This is a great evening out for you, your staff and your customers so we would ask you to support this event and by so doing you will be supporting this excellent facility at Limerick Junction. We in the Chamber of Commerce / Tipperary IRD wish Nessa and all her committee the very best for the forthcoming racing season. More information and dates will follow.
The Chamber of Commerce/ Tipperary IRD are currently scrutinising the possibility of further funding from sources other than the national and government agencies. Having already acquired capital for the purchase of the new Victorian lighting, from South Tipperary Development Company, formally Leader (which will be shortly erected by Tipperary Town Council) we are continuing to monitor and apply for assistance from these funds for worthwhile and substantial projects, which should benefit Tipperary Town. Further to the erection of these new Victorian lights we will hopefully, use these new additions to hang flower baskets throughout the summer months. Tipperary Town Council has expressed their wish to assist in the maintaining of these flowers. We are currently assessing the situation of broken or missing trees about the town and will report back to Tipperary Town Council when completed.
On the subject of enhancing the town’s appearance we are currently completing our application for entry to the National Tidy Towns competition. This is a substantial document to produce and we thank all those involved, TIRD/ Chamber of Commerce, Tipperary Town Council, Rapid, Residents Network, All Volunteers, Birdwatch Ireland, Local Schools and the local businesses. The Victorian Lighting and Hanging Baskets will add to the aesthetic appearance of Tipperary Town and can only help our overall marks for Tidy Towns, which have increased annually over the past 3 years.
As another huge help to our overall appearance and for the benefit of motorists we are asking the National Roads Authority to resurface the N24 road area that makes its way through to the town. In light of the fact that the new bypass has it seems has been put on hold we have appealed to our most Local T.D. Tom Hayes to lobby on our behalf. We await developments on this with great interest and hope.
Our Annual General Meeting will be held in the Excel Centre Tipperary Town on Thursday May 26 at 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend and we look forward to seeing you.
