Jimmy’s 100th: Last Saturday night a large crowd of family, neighbours and friends gathered in St. Mary’s for a special Mass of Thanksgiving for Jimmy McGrath, O’Neill St. reaching 100 years of living. Afterwards there was a party in Liam Daly’s. Jimmy outlasted many of the partygoers. Wednesday of last week, 21st, was the actual date- a significant day as it was the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lady, to whom Jimmy has great devotion. The cheque, letter of congratulations and certificate from President Higgins was delivered by hand to Jimmy in O’Neill Street, last Friday week. Jimmy is an example and inspiration to all of us, and one just marvels at his agility, alertness and good health. We wish and hope Jimmy will be with us for many more years to come.
