Tipp girl Laura McLaughlin celebrates musical success

Laura McLaughlin, a first year student at St. Anne’s Secondary School is celebrating her recent success after receiving the Royal Irish Academy of Music High Achiever award for violin at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Laura received the Music High Achiever award when she obtained 95% marks in her violin exam, which was the highest mark in the country.

Laura is a daughter of P.J and Oonagh McLaughlin from Canon Hayes Park and is a student of the Ryan School of Music. Michael John Ryan, Director of the Ryan School of Music, was very pleased with Laura’s achievement. “Laura is a fantastic hard-worker and has great enthusiasm for the violin. She began piano lessons with the Ryan School of music when she was 8-years old and only began playing the violin in 2012. We are delighted with Laura’s achievement.”

She is also a member of the County Tipperary Ryan Youth Orchestra which will be performing this Sunday at the Cashel Arts festival and also at St. Michaels’ Church, Tipperary town at 12.30 Mass on Sunday, November 24..
