Dr. Des Marnane opened the summer lecture series in the library in Cashel last Tuesday with a presentation on the life and times of Thomas Guerin, whose career took him from an hedge school education in Aherlow to Montreal where he became a mathematics professor.
The next lecture, on June 25, is with Isabella Mulhall from the National Museum of Ireland on the discovery of Carrick-On-Suir’s hoard of 81 gold coins which date to the 17th century. Isabella has worked at the National Museum since the 1990s, and most notably curated the bog-bodies exhibition. Lectures begin at 7.15pm, entry is free.
