John Lonergan, author and former governor of Mountjoy prison, will officially open the South East Craft Gathering, in the Craft Granary on July 4.
The exhibition will include the best of arts and crafts in the South East.
This special launch night will also raise money for a good cause - Temple Street Children’s Hospital. There will be wine and nibbles and all are welcome to come along on the night.
This exhibition will be a part of the National Gathering celebrations and will run for the month of July in the Craft Granary’s Gallery.
It will feature a selection of crafts promoting the quality of local contemporary and traditional craft by craft workers from all over the South East. It brings together the very best of the region’s unique craft makers and artists, from ceramicists, jewellers and textile-workers to wood turners and carvers, paper and felt makers, sculptors and many more.
As well as the exhibition in the Craft Granary, some local Cahir businesses are getting involved.
Both banks, Cahir House Hotel, The Lazy Bean, The River House Café and a host of others will be displaying craft pieces from different artists during this exhibition, so don’t forget to watch out for them.
The interest from local crafts people has been amazing and places in the exhibition filled up fast, according to the Craft Granary.
The quality and workmanship on the pieces submitted are second to none.
The South East Craft Gathering will be a major event for the South East and for the town of Cahir and will hopefully go on to be a recurring annual event, after this special Gathering year.
Call in to the Craft Granary on launch night and support a good cause and also see some fabulous pieces of work.
It promises to be a fascinating event.
July 4, from 7pm. All are welcome to come along.
