If anyone wants to put information in the Ardfinnan Notes please contact Irene Quirke by email on ardfinnan or hand deliver notes to Irene. All notifications must be sent before 5pm each Saturday to guarantee inclusion in the following week’s paper. If you have any queries you can contact her on 086 1725559. We want to hear about local weddings, births, special birthday requests etc or general community information from whatever organisation you are involved with. You tell us and we’ll tell them.

A public meeting was held in the hall last Wednesday night. Although attendance was not what we had hoped the Ardfinnan Community Council were overwhelmed with the ideas and suggestions that were put forward on the night. There is so much that we can do with the facilities that we have already therefore we will be putting together a schedule for summer and winter activities in the hall. A very clear concern for the youth of our community was very much the main theme of the meeting and a number of changes will be made within the hall and area to provide the youth with activities and involvement. However, we desperately need some volunteers. So if you have just one hour per week to spare we would love if you would come on board to help put the unity back into our community. Together everyone achieves more and we have so much in our village that we can use. We want to provide basketball, tennis, aerobics, soccer, makeup, handball, swimming, kayaking, fishing and so much more but we are just a committee and need support from the wider community. Please help us make a difference by giving our youth a chance. Please email with any suggestions or if you would like to help no matter how little or big that may be. Every little helps along the way.

Ardfinnan Youth Film Club or Teenflix Ardfinnan . Monday 20th June 7.30 - 9.30 Ardfinnan Community Centre . . . first night free . . . we will screen a selection of independent films from around the world, courtesy of International Film Festival Ireland, and make plans for the future . . strictly over 13s . . . facilitator Will Nugent - This night will be about showing what is being done around the world by the youth with a view to starting a Film Club here. Will has many years experience as an actor/film producer/director and we are delighted that he has agreed to assist the youth of Ardfinnan and surrounding area in making film. We would encourage all teenagers who are even just the slightest bit curious to come along - its free - and who knows you could be the next Tarrantino or Bruckheimer or maybe even Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. Come along you have nothing to lose but so much to gain. Tell all your friends. Wouldn’t it be great to spend the summer making movies. See you there.

Congratulations to Elaine and Alan Moloney on the birth of their beautiful son Cillian who will be a baby brother for Daragh. Wishing all the Moloney family in Mt. Carmel the very best of happiness for the future.

Ardfinnan Tidy Towns would once again say well done to Ardfinnan NS. It is great to see the green flag flying high.

June is now upon us and the village is looking great

We got a lot of our flower boxes up and baskets finished, we would like to ask anyone living near them to maybe keep an eye on them and water them when needed .

Once again well done to our local businesses for their hard work and well done to young Ollie who was hard at work painting all week. It is great to see a lot of colour around as you drive trough the village. Also well done to Micheal and Nora who were busy planting on Main Street.

Once again well done on the litter campaign, most people are trying hard to keep the village litter free and it is paying off as you walk around.

Keep up the great work
