The show that features a 185 strong cast aged between 4 and 68, began its eight day run on Sunday.
The title role of Cinderella is being played by Nicole Smith, Matthew Williams is Prince Charming and Fergus Power returns as the dame. Filling the shoes of the ugly sisters, Steak and Kidney, are Bobby Landers and Jimsey Dowley while Irene Malone and Pat Quinn play the Fairy Godmother.
Padraig Sheehan of Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society said audiences are loving the show, which is jam packed with hilarious gags and great song and dance numbers.
He said the panto provides a welcome escape from the recession blues and he encouraged young and old to come and enjoy the entertainment.
He pointed out that tickets are still available for remaining performances of the panto, which starts at 8pm each night on will conclude with the Sunday matinee at 3pm this Sunday, October 27. Tickets can be purchased at the Strand Theatre box office.
Meanwhile, when the final curtain closes on Cinderella, the actors over at Brewery Lane Theatre Group’s will be putting the finishing touches to rehearsals for their latest production, Tennesse Williams’ “The Glass Menagerie. The play, which premiered on Broadway in 1944, catapulted Williams
to overnight fame.
The play, directed by Peg Power and starring Colm Power, Maria Clancy, Sandra Power and Dermot Keyes, opens at Brewery Lane next Friday, November 1 and runs until the following Friday, November 8. Tickets cost €15 and are on sale at Carrick Heritage Centre (051)640200.
