Thousands turned out for a food extravaganza at the Tipperary Harvest Food Festival in Clerihan last weekend.

Prayers for good weather at the Michaelmas mass were heard and the sun came out for the main event on Sunday.

For the followers of fashion the weekend kicked off in style with a champagne and cheese reception. A huge thank you to everyone involved for making the night run smoothly especially compare Margaret Doyle.

The styles were fabulous and there really was something for everyone no matter what your budget. Congrats to Bernadette Dempsey and Pat Power who won the Best dressed Cowgal and Cowboy.

The Harvest Barn Dance was a sell out on Saturday night. A big thanks to all those who donned their cowboy hats and spurs and to band Southbound who put the crowds through their paces and great night was had by all.

Crowds flocked to Clerihan Community Park for a sun drenched Sunday afternoon. Catherine Fulvio enthralled and entertained her audience both young and old for over two hours to a full house in the main events hall.

She created some of her delightful dishes from her new book, ‘Eat like an Italian’ using fresh produce from some of Tipperary’s finest artisan food producers who were out in force in the food marquee.

Food was not the only attraction on the day. The event had some fantastic Health and crafts stands for people in the Health and craft marquee which proved a great success.

A big thank you to MC for the day Carrie Acheson who kept everyone up to date on the day’s proceedings. Thank you to Lucy Moore of GIY, Denis Ryan from the Bee Keepers association, Johnny B with his hurley making Demo and to Paddy Gleeson Horticulturist, for their very enjoyable and informative talks throughout the day.

There was something for everyone on the day, with visits from Shellikybookie with their amazing Giraffes, Clonmel Veteran & Vintage Classic Cars Club, Moyglass and Newcastle District vintage clubs for their Trashing display and vintage tractors.

South Tipperary Macra clubs got stuck in and battled it out in the tug of war for the Michaelmas cup. On your toes dance troop was very entertaining as always, thanks Gillian and Majella! The kids zone was a great success and kept all of the children well entertained throughout the day with so many activities for them to do.

The organisers would like to thank Clerihan GAA and Clerihan Soccer club for the generous time they gave to the festival, from stewarding to crossbars to sponges and to crazy horses!!

The organising committee of the Tipperary Harvest Food Festival would like to thank everyone who came and who helped in any way to make this event such a success.

A special word of thanks to the South Tipperary Development Company as without their support this great weekend event would not have been possible. Last weekend’s event was such a success that Clerihan Community Council are considering making this an annual event.
