Clonmel took on Cashel New Inn on Saturday morning in Rockwell in the second round of the Munster division 3 cup.
After being defeated by Cashel New Inn the previous week, Clonmel were well up for the challenge.
Clonmel broke the Cashel New Inn defence first, with a quick free from Dawn Grace in the back line to Marie Kelly on the wing, passed on to Gemma O’Dwyer who went one on one with the goalie to send the ball home.
Pamela Corcoran played an outstanding game in defence for the entire game. Second half saw Cashel New Inn Score Two goals. However on the final whistle, Clonmel scored from a short corner. Ger Boland passed the ball across the circle for Jess Ryan to send it home. This sent the match into silver goal. Clonmel’s Jen Quinlan and Betty Barlow were relentless even in the extra time. Extra time finished with the score still 2-2. Clonmel then won this round of the cup on penalty flicks with Jennifer O’Brien inspiring the team throughout. Clonmel 4 – Cashel New Inn 5. The team spirit for Clonmel never wavered for the duration of the game.
Clonmel now take on Cobh in the cup semifinal of the cup.
Clonmel div 5 match postponed due to a bereavement on the Dungarvan team. Rescheduled date to be confirmed.
