Carrick-on-Suir’s inaugural Music Theatre Festival will bring hundreds of music theatre fans to the town on Friday and Saturday September 28 and 29.

Carrick-on-Suir’s inaugural Music Theatre Festival will bring hundreds of music theatre fans to the town on Friday and Saturday September 28 and 29.

All shows will be performed at the Strand Theatre. Wexford Light Opera Society will present ‘A New World’ followed by Thurles Musical Society presenting ‘Golden Moments’at the theatre on Saturday night.

And St. Michael’s Musical Society will present ‘The First Five Years’ followed by Carrick on Suir Musical Society presenting

‘The Best of West Side Story’ on Sunday night The four societies will be competing for the Dick Meany Trophy. Tickets cost €15 and are on sale at the Theatre Box Office, telephone (051) 645050 – Monday to Friday 11.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00 to 4.00pm. Booking can also be made by e-mail carrickmusictheatrefestival@gmail.com.

Meanwhile, rehearsals are in full swing for Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society’s panto “Cinderella” and the production team has announced the cast.

The title role of Cinderella is played by Nicole Smith; Matthew Williams is Prince Charming; Fergus Power is the Dame; Seamus Power is Baron Ormond; Bobby Landers plays ugly sister Kidney; Jimsey Dowley is ugly sister Steak; Dennis Barry is Dandini; Stephan Carr is Buttons; Irene Malone is Priscilla (Fairy Godmother 1); Pat Quinn is Belinda (Fairy GodMother 2); Jenny Hogan is Sally, Paula O’Dwyer is Wally, Audie Murphy is Tiggles; Tom O’Dwyer is Major Domo; P J Slater is Mimi Domo.
