The Nenagh Arts Centre’s new programme for the Spring 2015 period begins this Saturday the 10th of January with classical music group Trio Elatha.
Formed in 2012 Trio Elatha, with founding members Ailbhe McDonagh and Brendan Walsh, bring together elements of Irish folk and classical music.
Their concert programmes feature arrangements of traditional Irish tunes coupled with their own compositions.
All three members are prizewinners of major competitions and have performed solos with major orchestras throughout Ireland, Europe and the USA.
In September 2013, violinist Lynda O’Connor joined the group and they have collaborated with such artists as Michael Collins, Nobuko Imai, Chee Yun Kim, Michael O’Suilleabhain, Michael Buble and De Dannan.
Recently, the group has taken a break to compose some of their own new material, but have a busy schedule planned for the 2015 season and their visit to Nenagh is part of an introduction to their soon to be released new album. The album was funded through the crowd-funding website Kickstarter.
The concert takes place on Saturday, January 10th at 8pm. Admission is priced at €15 with a €12 concession rate.
Tickets are available online at www.nenagharts.com. You can also phone the Arts Centre box office in Banba Square, Nenagh on 067 34400.
