Roscrea Musical society held their Annual general meeting in the Damer Court Hotel on July 14th last at 8pm to a somewhat less crowd than the 2010 AGM.
Our Chairman Mr. Tadhg Maher welcomed everyone to the meeting and encouraged everyone to have their say. The next item on the agenda was the Chairman’s address: Tadhg then took the floor and spoke of how pleased he was with the production of the ‘Wedding Singer’.
Our 2010 show which was staged in April of this year. Tadhg thanked the Director and Choreographer Mr. Peter Kennedy, Musical Director Mary-Rose Mc Nally the Committee members. Tadhg gave a special thanks to Mr. Ian Hanrahan who for the first time took the role of stage manager, Ian did a fantastic job both preparing the stage and for the smooth running of set changes throughout the production of the Wedding Singer.
Our Secretary Siobhan gave her report for the year and went into great detail of each meeting the committee eight in all, and the decisions which were made at those meetings.
Our Chairman Mr. Maher then asked for our treasurer’s report which was delivered from our joint Treasurers Margaret Lyons and Mary Pyne.
The next part of the meeting was the election of the officers of which are: Honorary President: Eileen Moloney. Honorary Vice President: Fr. Tom Corbett, Fr Lorcan Kenny, Fr. Michael Harding, Fr. Pat Treacy, Rev, Leslie Robinson, Rev. Brian Griffin, Mr. Eddy Guilmartin, Mr. George Rowe, Chairman: Mr. Tadhg Maher, Vice Chair: Clara Mc Mahon, Secretary: Gillian Wallace, Joint Honorary Treasurers: Margaret Lyons and Mary Pyne, P.R.O: Andrew Walsh, Patron Secretary: Patricia Delaney.
Committee: Geraldine Carroll, Ian Hanrahan, Rachael Mc Mahon, Conor Harte, Colin Williams, Siobhan Bowe, Margaret Comerford, Rachael Doran, Emma Mc Grath, Maeve Conlon. The final part of the meeting was the announcement of the unsung hero award: The unsung hero award this year is given for outstanding contribution to the society over many years, this year we are giving a joint award, both these ladies have held the position of joint treasurers on a number of occasions, they have manned the booking office over the years and are always willing to help in every way possible for the betterment of the society. It is with great pleasure that the society presents the Unsung Hero’s award to Margaret Lyons and Mary Pyne.
