A fantastic programme of events is planned to commemorate the Great War during the month of July.
The Tipperary Excel Arts Centre will host a series of exhibitions, cinema, memorabilia displays and talks to commemorate WWI starting on July 23rd, which includes a lecture by Dr Des Marnane at 7.30om entitled ‘Tipperary Military Barracks and Word War I.
The art gallery will host an exhibition by Aisling O’Keeffe entitled ‘The Role of Irish Women in Irish History 1900 - 1920’ while an installation from Cappawhite Youtheach Group will reflect the views of young people on the futility of war. In addition to this programme of events the Tipperary Excel proudly presents ‘Tipperary Remembers 1914 - 2014’ at the Simon Ryan Theatre on July 24th-25th. These music hall variety concerts will take a nostalgic stroll down memory lane of Tipperary during WWI through the medium of song and dance and humour.
