As part of the Culture Night series of events planned for Friday, September 18th at The Source Arts Centre in Thurles artist Brian Harte will lead a group of artists in a portrait painting night.
Participants can come in and set up their easel and paint the portrait of a well-known sitter. Oils, acrylics, pencils or materials of one’s own choice, can be used. Although some basic equipment will be available, patrons should bring their own brushes, easels and paints etc. The event will be free to attend, however, numbers are limited and those attending should book with The Source box office on 0504 90204 in advance. The event starts at 5.30pm and runs until 10.30pm. So, participants will have plenty of time to consider their work over the evening.
Brian Harte studied painting at Crawford College of Art and has works in a number of collections including The Bank of Ireland, Irish Contemporary Art Society, Office of Public Works and University College Cork.
The portrait painting evening is a part of a number of events at The Source for Culture Night 2015 which also include readings by Syrian and Irish readers, an installation by Artist John O’Dwyer and Gallery discussion centred around the upcoming Moving Targets (Poise and Pace) exhibition.
