Clonmel World Music is very proud to present Pokey Lafarge and the South City Three live in Raheen House Hotel, Clonmel on Wednesday, September 4th for one night only - tickets go on sale on Thursday, August 1st at 9am in Premier Music Clonmel.
In September 2010 this band featured in Clonmel for their first-ever Irish gig. Since then they have appeared on the Jools Holland and David Letterman shows and feature on the soundtrack for two current major films. Pokey Lafarge and the South City Three, a six-piece band, have also played big US and European festivals.
Tickets are priced at €20 each and are available in Premier Music Centre Clonmel on 052 612 9811, from Gerry Lawless on 086 338 9619 and from Martha Beardmore on 087 910 7201. Doors for the gig will open at 8pm. There will be no support act and the band will start at 9pm sharp - this ensures that the gig will finish before 11pm.
Pokey are currently touring with a five-piece backing band, including his original South City Three bandmates (Ryan Koenig on harmonica, washboard and snare, Adam Hoskins on guitar and Joey Glynn on upright bass), in addition to Chloe Feoranzo on clarinet and TJ Muller on cornet.
Pokey Lafarge delivers a creative mix of early jazz, string ragtime, country blues, and western swing. It’s wonderfully infectious and all laid down in front of a big, big swingin’ beat. Pokey is a musician, songwriter, bandleader, entertainer, innovator and preservationist, whose well-rounded arsenal of talents has placed him at the forefront of American music. Over the last decade, Pokey has won the hearts of music lovers across the globe with his creative mix of early jazz, string ragtime, country blues and western swing, all while writing songs that ring true and fine in both spirit and sound.
