Santa swooped down from the North Pole to Cashel’s Library last Wednesday, delighting scores of local children at a pyjama party hosted by Librarian Susan Brosnan.

Susan kept the children enthralled with Christmas stories and legends, while a Choir from Boherlahan - led by Organist Pauline Bargary - entertained up to 60 children and their mothers, with milk, tea and biscuits served to all.

Informed sources tell us this was Santa Clause’s first ever appearance in the Library.

Santa granted many of the children’s deepest Christmas wishes upstairs in a magical atmosphere: a fitting end to a very busy year in the Library with so many exhibitions, book launches and readings taking place there this year.

The look of joy on the parents’ eyes as their toddlers were kept spellbound by Santy really captured the spirit of Christmas . The Library will be closed from Tuesday to Saturday over Christmas. Tel: (062) 63825.
