Huge congratulations are due to the Ursuline and Presentation Secondary Schools on their recent productions of Crazy for You and Hairspray respectively. Also to Colaiste Mhuire for their fabulous Camp Rock which rocked the corridors of the school.
The three shows were very well received in the Cathedral Town with the Sister Ursula Memorial Hall, and the Premier Hall’s both drawing large attendances throughout the run while Colaiste Mhuire was the destination for those who wanted a bit of rock and roll.
In total, between the three schools, almost five hundred pupils took to the stage to entertain the attendances and boy was there was entertainment. Although three entirely different shows, the slapstick humour involved was a real pick-me-up and was carried off with the professionalism of the West End to leave the audiences in great form as departed the auditoriums.
Tremendous credit is due to our three secondary schools for continuing to take on such musicals, especially at a time when school budgets are extremely tight and money is not flowing as freely as heretofore. There is certainly a big appetite for musical theatre locally and the exposure guaranteed to each and every person who takes to the stage, can only do wonders for confidence.
Congratulations to the three productions teams who worked so hard since September to get the show on the road and then on the stage.
