THE musical, Grease, will be screened as part of Nenagh Arts Centre’s outdoor film screenings in Banba Square this Saturday, June 16. The John Travolta / Olivia Newton John film is from the mid-70s but uses 1950’s American high school life as its setting.
The story is simple enough, a romance between teenagers Sandy and Danny’s fizzles out as summer ends. Believing they will be apart, they get a surprise when Sandy turns up at Danny’s school for the autumn term. Will romance survive the problems of teenage life? Will Greased Lightnin’ win the race’? How do they fly off in the car at the end of the movie? These and other questions will be answered after a series of classic songs and routines are through. Hear Summer Lovin’, Hopelessly Devoted To You and You’re The One That I Want all in glorious colour on the big screen. Grease is a classic musical with a great sense of full and vitality to it. The film is outdoors in Banba Square; some seating is provided and patrons are advised to dress warmly and have raingear at hand - remember it’s an Irish summer evening. The film starts just when night falls around 10pm. Tickets, priced at €10, are online at www.nenagharts.com or can be booked by calling 067-34400 or by calling in to the arts centre in Banba Square.
