On New Year’s Day last, the 4th annual “Migger” Fennell’s darts tournament in aid of North Tipperary Hospice took place in Clarke’s Bar, Templemore sponsored by the Fennell family and BT Harps soccer club.
It was once again a well-attended tournament with 68 players turning up to support the event. It was great to see so many young players throwing such high quality darts this year and it wasn’t long before the 180’s were flying in with Eoin Brophy and Bodien Fogarty showing the older guys how it was done. After a great days play the doubles came down to a final between the two wise old heads Billy Fennell and Stephan Leahy versus the young guns Dylan Loughnane and Paddy Morrissey, Dylan hitting a 114 finish which was the best on the day. The old boys just pulled it out of the fire with a 3-2 win, in what was a great final. The singles semis saw Bodien Fogarty versus Frankie Sage and Tommy Kennedy versus Cathal Leahy, with Frankie and Cathal pulling through to make the final. Cathal done the business and overcame Frankie in the final. Well done to both players on what was a super final.
