Moyne-Templetuohy GAA Club will host a ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ night on Saturday, February 15th when the most fleet of foot will take to the ballroom floor in the Templemore Arms Hotel.
With the anticipation building in the weeks leading up to the event tickets have begun to fly out and a full house is to be expected. So, clear the diary for what will be a great night with marvellous entertainment. Indeed, when the competition ends people can hit the floor themselves an dance the night away to the music of Silver Dollar.
In the current climate it is difficult to raise funds for GAA clubs and this ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ event represents Moyne-Templetuohy’s novel attempt to finance the operations of the club.
For several weeks now thirty-two dancers have been training extremely hard in preparation for the competition under the guidance of dance teacher Rosalie Butler who has done marvellous work with the competitors who had little or no dancing experience prior to this event.
Indeed, the dancers, when not in the company of Rosalie, can be found perfecting their steps in kitchens, halls and pub in the area such is their enthusiasm to get it right.
The contestants have made huge sacrifices over the past weeks and raised much needed funds for the club. And, the club would like to commend them for their massive effort.
The pairings for the night are as follows - PJ Ryan & Dympna Sweeney, Ger Everard & Geraldine O’Connor, Joe O’Grady & Ciara Gorman, John Egan & Mairead O’Dwyer, Enda Everard & Claire Molloy, Sean Hayes & Edel Leahy, James Butler & Mary Quinlan, Ailbe Hayden & Trish Gavin, John Dunne & Marie Mcgrath, John Hassett & Shona Fogarty, Martin Kelly & Aoife Everard, Padraig Costigan & Pamela Russell, Pa Joe Hayes & Bernie Ryan, Joe Kennedy & Miriam Everard, Ronan Ely & Catriona Ryan, Aidan Kelly & Emma Russell.
On an annual basis the club depends on sponsorship and the generosity of local business. Once more businesses in the area have come up trumps and supported the club, for which the club is very grateful.
Such an event does not organize itself and this is where the club finance committee excelled and worked tirelessly to ensure that the night will be a huge success.
Also, adjudicators on the night will be Paul Collins (Today FM), Elaine Harte (former Cork football goalkeeper) and Johnny Looby (sport correspondent) while John Hogan will be the Master of Ceremonies. John Paul Kelly will look after the music on the night.
A large number of helpers will also be working hard on the night and the club would like to thank everyone involved for their contribution.
Dan Ward has the ballroom ready and all the club needs now is for you to come along and enjoy what will be a night to remember.
Doors open at 7.15pm and the show starts at 8pm sharp.
