Tipperary is preparing to celebrate ‘Culture Night’ on Friday, September 19th.

Tipperary is preparing to celebrate ‘Culture Night’ on Friday, September 19th.

A host of free events will take place across Tipperary throughout the day and into the night with locals and visitors across the island of Ireland enjoying a wide range of free entertainment.

With events planned by local arts providers and groups in 22 venues across 11 towns throughout the day, from family fun art workshops, free concerts and walking tours to film screenings, there is something for all ages and interests this Culture Night in Tipperary.

Events are planned in Ballina, Cahir, Carrick on Suir, Cashel, Clonmel, Cloughjordan, Fethard, Nenagh, Roscrea, Thurles and Tipperary Town so check out the programme to see what is happening near you.

Just some of the highlights this year include the return of local singer Edel Meade, recipient of the 2013 Emerging Artist Award to her hometown of Clonmel for a special concert, music workshops for musicians at 15 Parnell St hosted by The Junction Festival and family events throughout the day at South Tipperary Arts Centre with a special exhibition running in Mitchell Street by The Art Hive artists collective from 4pm-9pm.

In Nenagh, ceramic artists Thomas Wollen and Grainne Watts invite you to Country Choice to have a go at working with clay, you could see an outdoor film at Nenagh Arts Centre or you could take an historical walking tour led by Kevin Whelan.

Family Fun arts & crafts sessions are planned at The Source Arts Centre & Library in Thurles and an exciting range of events are planned for Carrick on Suir and at The Tipperary Excel in Tipperary Town. These are just a few of the possibilities offered in County Tipperary on Culture night this year so do pick up a Culture Night brochure at your local library, museum or arts centre to see what you can take part in on Friday 19 September in your area.
