An Australian lady is seeking information on Kirwans who emigrated in the late 1800’s and who may have descendents who are related to her. She lives in Melbourne, Australia and has been doing her family history.
She tells how she has “ a mystery. I have a William Kirwan born 8.1.1840 in Thuples (spelt this way on headstone in St. Kilda cemetery) and died at Melbourne on 5.4.1878. I have no record of his parents or ship records to Australia. Also in the same grave are John Patrick Mullins (born 1846 in Ireland) died 1896 & his wife Ellen Breen also born in Ireland 1842 and died 16.10.1928. Mullins, Breen and also Sheridan are in my family tree, but no Kirwan’s”.
Carole has been in contact with Kevin Kirwan from the Irish Famine web site and he suggested that she contact the Tipperary Star as there are quite a few Kirwan living in Thurles, Carole would appreciate any help any readers may be able to give to help with this mystery.
She can be contacted at Carole….firstname.lastname@example.org
