With the closing date for nominations for the 2012 awards passed since Friday November 2nd, we now anxiously await the deliberations of the Judging Panels for the short list of nominees for the 2012 Canon Hayes Awards.

“There are separate judging panels for the local, county, national/outstanding achievement awards and they are currently meeting to consider the various nominations” said Martin Quinn, Chairman of the Canon Hayes Centre.

“2012 was a great sporting year and there is much to consider by the panels this year. The panels are tasked with producing a short list of three nominees for the local, county and national awards and with a single nominee for the outstanding achievement award. Once they have concluded their deliberations the short listed nominees will be announced. I expect that the nominees will be announced in the next issue of The Tipperary Star” said Martin.

The Awards were inaugurated in 1996 and the first Gala event was attended by the then American Ambassador to Ireland, Ms. Jean Kennedy Smith and by the Minister for Sport, Mr. Bernard Allen, T.D.
