Six Tipp organisations receive funding from the Arts Council of Ireland

The Arts Council has announced details of the successful recipients under round two of the Festivals and Events Scheme for 2014 - this funding programme is aimed at small local events and festivals which have requested funding of up to €40,000.

The Arts Council has announced details of the successful recipients under round two of the Festivals and Events Scheme for 2014 - this funding programme is aimed at small local events and festivals which have requested funding of up to €40,000.

Sheila Pratschke (Chair of the Arts Council) said: “It is incredible to see how much work of the highest calibre is being presented throughout the country. The Arts Council recognises the important contribution these festivals and events make to the social and cultural aspects of our communities and the enormous contribution made by so many volunteers”.

A total of €307,500 has been awarded throughout the country. The total value of the funding sought by the 199 applicants was €1.6 million.

Six Tipperary-based organisations with a proven track record of delivering great arts experiences are amongst the recipients. These include the Cashel Arts Festival with its programme of music, song, dance, visual art, film, talks, theatre, workshops, family events and literature. The Festivals and Events scheme awards offered may be used for one-off events or for a programme of festival activities. The average grant awarded to successful applicants in this round was €4,271.

The Arts Council offered the following funding: Eigse Eatharlai €3,000; Tipperary Dance Residency €5,000; Spleodar - Nenagh Community Arts Festival €5,000; Cashel Arts Festival €3,500; Thurles Halloween Arts Festival €3,000; Dromineer Literary Festival €3,500.
