Roscrea Creative Art Group Launch their Spring 2012 Exhibition in Damer House

The Roscrea Creative Art Group launched an exhibition of their work in Damer House last Friday to much acclaim. The exhibition runs for two week and is available for viewing daily 10am until 6pm. Viewing is highly recommended.

Night Of Celebration

A night of celebration to present Long Service Awards to recipients from Roscrea and South Offaly who have given long and loyal service to the Fianna Fail Party will take place on Friday 27th Of April at the Damer Court Hotel (Grants) at 9pm.The presentations will be made by Michael Martin, TD, leader of Fianna Fail, on his first visit to Roscrea as party leader. The proceeds of the awards night will be given to Pieta House. All are welcome.

Bi-Centenary Service Of Thanksgiving

Sunday 29th of April sees the liturgical highlight of the 200th anniversary celebrations of St. Cronan’s Church, Church St, when a major service of thanksgiving will be held in the church at 3p.m. Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe will be the celebrant at the Eucharist while the Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Rev. Michael Jackson, Primate of Ireland and Metropolitan, will be the guest preacher. Representatives from the other main Christian churches in the area will also be present. Roscrea Community Choir, Virtuoso Chamber Choir and Nicole Robinson, Soprano, will be taking part. All warmly welcome.

Tulip Show

Angela Jupe’s Tulip Festival takes place this Saturday with the Bellfield Walled Gardens open from 11a.m on Saturday. The display is a wonderful sea of colour with dozens of tulips and other spring flowers at their best in the restored gardens at Bellfield. Bring the children and the camera. Trade stands and tea/coffee snacks available on the day with ample car parking space. Great day out for the young and not so young.

Fine Gael AGM

The Roscrea Branch of Fine Geal is holding their Annual General Meeting on Monday night next, April 23rd, at p.m in the Damer Court Hotel (Grants). Deputy Noel Coonan, TD, and local Councilors will attend.

Tesco News

Tesco would like to take this opportunity to thank John Ryan and the members of the Roscrea Branch of the Irish Red Cross for all their work in staging a bag pack for the Aislinn Centre (Adolescent Addiction Treatment Centre) Co. Kilkenny. Tesco will be holding their Next Street Market on Friday 27th of April. There will be arts, crafts, and home baking. Hope to see you there!

Roscrea ICA

The Roscrea ICA Guild will hold their Annual General Meeting tonight, Wednesday 18th of April, in the Legion Hall at 8p.m. sharp. They look forward to a full attendance.

St. Cronan’s Camogie

The U 14 team were defeated in a very sporting game last week against Moneygall. Conditions were not great on the evening with several heavy showers of rain and hail. The club entered a team in the Go Games last Sunday at the Camogie Pitch in the Ragg.It was a great opportunity for our young girls to be playing before the Senior match between Wexford and Tipperary and also during half time. Congratulations to all the teams who took part on the day. Training continues every Monday night and Wednesday night. New players always welcome. Membership is now due and the club would ask that all members returns forms.


Visitation of the sick, whether in their homes or in hospital, is part of a priest’s work. If there is anyone sick, housebound or hospitalised who would like a visit from a priest, please contact the Parish Office at (0505) 31835.
