Roscrea Comhaltas kicks off its Traditional Music Sessions on Friday June 21st as part of Ireland’s National Music Day.

Ireland celebrates National Music Day with love:live music 2013 - a whole day and night of FREE live music events in villages, towns and cities across Ireland. We’re inviting everyone to get involved and to make music everywhere.

In support of the Love Live Music initiative, Roscrea Comhaltas will perform in the grounds of Roscrea castle on Friday 21st at 7.30pm. This promises to be a great evening of free entertainment so come along and join us for an evening of fun.

In the past Comhaltas has supported Music Network in organising many events across the country. In support of this initiative Mr Jimmy Deenihan T.D., Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht said “I’m delighted that my Department can again support National Music Day. This is a great opportunity for people to engage with our vibrant musical culture. In the year of The Gathering, National Music Day also showcases our musical talent for those returning home or visiting Ireland. Wherever you are on Friday 21st of June, you won’t be far from a live music event”.So don’t forget Friday 21st June at Roscrea Castle at 7.30pm with Comhaltas Ros Cré.

The sessions then revert back to Thursday nights in Damer Court Hotel where it is hoped that visiting branches will join the branch to put on a fun filled night of music song and dance. Practise for the up comming Munster Fleadh Cheoil is well under way and it is hoped that there will be a full attendance from here on.
