‘Violette’ will be screened at The Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Wednesday, March 18th at 8pm.
Feminist writer Violette Leduc is the subject of this biopic from French director Martin Provost - it charts the events in the author’s life which were to have a profound effect on her writing.
We first encounter Violette (Emmanuelle Devos) while she is hiding in the French countryside during the Second World War. After the war ends Violette moves to Paris where she discovers the work of celebrated writer Simone de Beauvoir (Sandrine Kiberlain).
In ‘Violette’ Provost delivers a compelling account of the events which shaped an unwavering female writer.
Tickets: €9 (€7 concession & €5 Film Club members).
