St. Patrick’s Day
Fundraising A Priority

The first planning meeting for the 2012 Cashel St. Patrick’s Parade took place on Thursday 13th October in Mikey Ryan’s.

John Byrne the Parade chairperson looked forward to the weekend event in March 2012 and was at pains to point out that a huge effort would be needed to bring in funds for what should become an extended weekend festival.

He said, “this presents the town with a golden opportunity to benefit from the St. Patrick’s Day parade. As this year as it will fall on a Saturday, a big parade with a number of fringe events from the Friday night onwards will be a huge kick start to the 2012 tourism season.”

The committee had reviewed the state of the Parade’s finance and were confident that the traditional support given to the event by town’s people and both the town and county councils would ensure that the coming parade would be as successful as ever.

John Byrne said that it was imperative that a number of fund raising events take place over the next four months, as the days of relying solely on the goodwill of Mass goers were long gone.

The next meeting will be a social evening in Mikey Ryan’s on Election night, from 8pm on Thursday October 27th. All members are asked to attend.
