Salisha Quinn, friendship, cows, helicopters, Daddy, sex, poodles, chocolate cake, America, Denis, whiskey, pain, Daddy , balaclavas, pregnancy tests, bedwetting and beauty pageants, Brazilian hippies, fields and Robert Burke.

‘Kitty in the Lane’ is a one-woman play that journeys through a girl’s life in a wild and challenging rural Ireland.

‘Kitty in the Lane’ had its debut showing at The Source Arts Centre, Thurles in January and proved a successful sell-out show.

The play introduces us to the boisterous Kitty, caring for her father in an isolated cottage down a remote lane in rural Ireland.

On this particular night, Kitty is waiting for her boyfriend, Robert, to collect and escort her to the local beauty pageant in which her friend, the ambitious Salisha, is competing. As the evening unfolds and little show from Robert, we are educated on the woes and frolics of Kitty’s current personal and filial situation, still bearing the grief of her brother’s death and coping with an absent mother.

The two-act drama is an intriguing combination of dark and light humour, wit, tragedy and pathos.

Áine Ryan is a playwright and actor from Upperchurch.

Tickets for ‘Kitty in the Lane’ are priced at €10 and available in person from The Source Arts Centre box office or by calling 0504 90204 - alternatively you can visit
