The Source Arts Centre and Fishamble: The New Play Company have come together to offer a year-long mentoring programme for playwrights and directors.

The scheme is intended to support the development of emerging and established playwrights and directors.

The mentoring programme is a continuation of a successful collaboration in Thurles in April 2014 when Fishamble delivered a weekend of directing and playwriting workshops which culminated in a sharing of new work on ‘Culture Night’ 2014.

The programme will take place in Thurles over a series of ten Saturday mornings (10am – 1pm) starting on February 28th and continuing on March 28th, April 25th and May 23rd with further dates to be decided in early 2015.

Participants will discuss their current and future projects, explore the role of the playwright-director and be mentored through the challenges that face them. A work-in-progress showcase may be presented towards the end of the year, as appropriate.

The Playwrights’ Mentoring Programme will be led by Gavin Kostick, Fishamble’s Literary Officer and award winning playwright. The Directors’ Mentoring Programme will be led by Fishamble’s award winning Artistic Director Jim Culleton.

Both programmes will run simultaneously.

If you would like to apply for either of these programmes please download the application form from www.thesourceartscentre.ie. Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, January 23rd at 4pm. Please note that you must be available to attend all 10 sessions. The cost per person is €200 or €150 for students, unwaged or OAPs. Applicants must be over 18.
