Ormond Historical Society president John Flannery will give a talk on Denis (Sonny) O’Neill, (1889-1950), in the Parish Hall, Toomevara, this Wednesday, January 20, at 8.30pm. Doors open 8pm; admission €5. O'Neill was an RIC man, British Soldier and member of the IRA. He played a key role in the events at Beal na mBlath and subsequently in the Civil War in North Tipperary. The talk will look at the extraordinary life of this man and his part in the events during a tumultuous time. It will also examine his life in post civil war Tipperary and his involvement in local politics.
