Water outage
Uisce Éireann has advised customers supplied by the Ardfinnan Water Treatment Plant that they may be continuing to experience supply issues as a result of the recent burst main which caused low water levels at the plant.
As a result, overnight restrictions will be in place from 9pm tonight (Tuesday, July 22) until 8am on Wednesday morning in Cahir, Clerihan, Poulmucka, Colman, Jamestown, Redcity, Giants Grave, Poulatar, Newcastle, and Knocklofty to allow supplies to recover.
Typically, it takes two to three hours for normal supply to restore to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.
An alternative water supply will be available in Castle Park, Cahir and Clerihan village church for the duration of the restrictions.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Pierce Faherty, Uisce Éireann, has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore supply to normal levels.
“We understand the impact of overnight restrictions, but these measures are necessary to ensure continuous daytime supply for homes and businesses while we allow the reservoir levels time to recover,” said Pierce.
