Remarkable authors' creative activism celebrated at cultural event in Tipperary castle

Pictured above at the Creative Activism Connections event in Carrick-on-Suir's Ormond Castle on Saturday, May 31 were writer Margaret O’Brien of Writing Changes Lives, artist Sheila Wood, Rehan Ali, one of the special guest authors whose writing and film making are inspired by his experience living at Bridgewater House Direct Provision Centre in Carrick for 10 years as a child; Linda Fahy of the Tudor Artisan Hub and Enda O’Driscoll.

Rehan’s short film Water Under the Bridge, that was shot in Carrick was screened as part of his wonderful multi-media presentation at the event.

One of the special guest writers at Creative Activism Connections was Joann Malone from the US, a former nun arrested in the 1960s for protesting against the Vietnam War. She gave a powerful account of her life in conversation with writer Margaret O’Brien. She is pictured (centre) with from left Beverly Delidow, Jillian Quinn-Wheaton, Margaret O'Brien and Pauline Humphries
