A new community cycling initiative will hit the road on June 30 in Cashel. The first Tipperary AXA Community Bike Ride will take place this Sunday morning, starting from the car park at the Rock of Cashel at 10am.
Rides will be led by Tomás O Miadhacháin who recently completed the Cycling Ireland bike leader course in Kilkenny. All you need is a roadworthy bike and a helmet.
The first cycle will cover a 16km route and will take place at a leisurely pace. The group will finish the cycle with a cup of coffee.
Cyclists will also learn important bike skills from leader Tomás such as road safety at junctions.
The cycle is open to anyone age 18 years and over. All cyclists must register at www.axacommunity bikerides.com prior to the cycle.
Earlier this year Cycling Ireland announced a nationwide initiative in conjunction with AXA Insurance to provide free, social, leisure bike rides for people of all cycling experience. The initiative is aimed at encouraging more people to take up cycling.
