Nathan Hanlon, who was charged with the murder of Ian Walsh, appearing at Clonmel District Court on Thursday evening
A 19-year-old man was brought before a special sitting of Clonmel District Court on Thursday evening charged with the murder of Ian Walsh in Carrick-on-Suir on August 2nd.
Nathan Hanlon, with an address at 1 Castle View, Ballyneale, appeared before Judge Miriam Walsh on Thursday evening. He was remanded in custody to appear in person before Clonmel District Court again at 3pm on August 26.

Hanlon, who did not speak in court during the brief hearing, was charged with the murder of Ian Walsh at 62 Ravenswood, Cregg Road, Carrick-on-Suir on August 2nd.
Sgt Denis Ryan said that he arrested Nathan Hanlon on Wednesday, August 20 at 1 Castle View, Ballyneale and charged him with murder shortly after 3pm on Thursday.
Sgt Ryan told the court that the accused, who wore all black in court, was cautioned and he made no reply to the charge.

The defendant was represented by John Joy of John M Joy Solicitors in court. He asked for a psychological assessment to be carried out, an order which was approved by Judge Walsh. He also applied for free legal aid.
The funeral of Ian Walsh, a native of Waterford city who was an Irish Rail enthusiast, took place last week in Cork. His body was found at his home on August 4 at Ravenswood and the investigation was upgraded to murder three days later.
